Meet Luke, a freshly-minted New Yorker who is discovering and pushing the limits of self-expression. A true multi-disciplinary creative, his repertoire spans visual art, poetry, and acting. Yet, across all these mediums, one thing remains constant: his intuition guides the work, distilling the complexity of his interior world into simple, abstract forms.
Luke’s background is as varied as his mediums. Growing up in a French-American family, he spent his early childhood in Michigan oscillating between two extremes: high-energy motion or silent, observant stillness.
His artistic journey truly began when he moved to Austria to join an intensive acting camp in Vienna between the ages of 7 and 11. By the time he moved to Germany at 13, he knew he was destined for the stage. This passion led him through UNESCO competitions and summer camps at Guildhall, eventually landing him in drama school in Vienna, where he balanced his studies with work as a barkeep.
Finding a geographic 'home base' was a challenge. While London seemed like the logical next step, political complications pushed him toward Berlin, a city that became the perfect backdrop for cessation and rebirth.
Arriving in Berlin feeling disillusioned with his previous work, Luke used the city as a canvas to reinvent his aesthetic. Influenced by the extravagant energy of Berlin’s nightlife, he stripped his artistic process back to the basics. He began drafting simple compositions using dots and lines to rediscover what he found aesthetically pleasing, finding happiness in 'no-frills' accomplishments.
