Peachy Pacquing’s journey with Hyper Island is the ultimate example of 'practicing what you preach.' Her relationship with the renowned digital creative business school didn't start in the boardroom; it started in the classroom.

Beginning as a Master’s student in 2016, Peachy climbed the ranks from Programme Manager to Programme Director, eventually taking the helm as the Managing Director at Hyper Island APAC in 2022.

Before taking on the task of disrupting the education sector, Peachy spent 25 years in the Communications industry, culminating in a role as the Chief Executive Officer of Ogilvy in the Philippines.

Interestingly, she views this high-powered corporate career as merely 'preparatory school' for her current work. Today, her day-to-day life involves transforming education into topics of study that challenge industries to think differently.

Hyper Island was founded in 1996 on the premise that traditional education could not keep up with a quickly evolving world. While the technology has changed since then, the mission remains steadfast.

As we stand on the cusp of advanced automation and Artificial Intelligence, Peachy emphasises that the school’s focus goes beyond IQ (Intellectual Quotient) or EQ (Emotional Quotient). Instead, Hyper Island champions the Adaptability Quotient (AQ). This measure stresses the importance of 'meta-learning', or the art of learning how to learn, empowering students to navigate the unknown with confidence.

What is 'Trans-disciplinary' learning?

From the intersection of art and technology to Peachy’s vision for democratising education across Southeast Asia, there is much more to uncover. To read the full feature, check out LIMINALITY, the 2nd volume of INTERLUNAR’s zine.
