ZINE VOLUME VII - UMBRA

Spring 2026

-

Umbra [ um-bra ] | /ˈʌmbrə/

Noun. The fully shaded inner region of a shadow.

UMBRA is volume 7 of our zine. If our previous edition sought clarity in the glare of modern life, this edition seeks comfort in the shade. We move from the refraction of light to the depth of the shadows, where we are most human, most vulnerable, and most real.

For this iteration, we return to the source, writing straight from the mushy folds of our imperfect brains to yours.

We explore the silent weight of the loneliness epidemic, the dystopian rise of companionship-as-a-service, and the brave act of remaining flawed in the face of artificial perfection.

Stepping out of the shade to share their craft, we feature creators who find beauty in disruption, rest, and symbiosis:

  • Mark Heng of Maroon Clothing
  • Pei Qin of Pillow Pottery
  • Jerome and Sarah Choo
